Alcohol ink is a vibrant and fluid medium that has gained immense popularity among artists and hobbyists alike for its ability to create ethereal, dreamlike landscapes and intricate abstract patterns. Unlike traditional inks, alcohol inks are non-polar, which allows them to move freely when applied to non-porous surfaces like Yupo paper, ceramic, glass, and metal. The inks can be manipulated using isopropyl alcohol, which either pushes, merges, or repels the colors, yielding unexpected and often serendipitous results. The spontaneous nature of the medium requires artists to either relinquish control and embrace the unpredictability or deftly harness its characteristics for more intentional outcomes.
